The Smog Filter

Now that AAP is elected in Punjab and MCD, the sole responsibility for the smog problem in Delhi is on Mr.Kejriwal and his government. Banning crackers on Diwali but not on New Year and Christmas says a lot about their political ideologies. According to an article posted in The Hindu, there had been 'no impact' of the firecrackers on the air quality of Delhi, but I beg to differ as it would have had a little impact to some extent.  I want to ask Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Bhagwant Mann, by banning crackers and not stubble burning, how did the Delhiites and Punjabis benefit? The children crying as they couldn't get the childhood joy of burning crackers, the shop owners not being able to make a living, and, of course, little difference for the Delhiites in the air quality.  Being in power for around 8months, the Punjab government still couldn't implement or even introduce schemes or policies in its State Assembly that would reduce stubble burning. We are said to be born free, but are we? We pay taxes to continue living in this country without any hindrance because if we don't pay them, we are put behind bars. Is this the financial equality promised by the government? To begin with, what are taxes? Taxes are mandatory contributions levied on citizens and corporations of a country by the government, be it local, regional, or national. We, the public, are told that the taxes finance government activities and public welfare services such as roads and schools. But are they being used for these purposes in real life?
